She’s Taking a Break is the story of Annie McGrath, a “sophisticated stoner” who flees her high-profile life in LA with her rock-star husband to return to her childhood home right here in Cambridge, Mass. While home caring for her dying stepfather, Annie is forced to confront her past—specifically the boy across the street who is now a priest at the local parish.
Described as a contemporary cannabis romance about what happens when two sisters, one priest, and a rock star smoke a joint, this story elevates a heroine who is strong, empowered, and an open cannabis consumer.

Morton’s career has included many community and new business development efforts in Corporate America. Most recently she served as Vice President at one of the largest consulting firms in the U.S., where she built a multi-million dollar book of business. She was named one of Southeast Virginia’s Top 40 under 40 Professionals and owns SKM Communications and Consulting LLC, where she uses her expertise to lead executive-level, strategic assistance with sales, operations, and communications-based projects for businesses and non-profits.
She has been advocating for cannabis law reform in Virginia since 2018 and is passionate about national cannabis advocacy. She moderates community forums and town hall meetings, speaks at industry events, educates via social media, and has been interviewed by many media outlets.
