Pioneering Cannabis Pharmacist Meagan Lynn Pilawski
Meagan Pilawski is a member of the inaugural class at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy and is on her way to earning a Master of Science (MS) in Medical Cannabis Science and Therapeutics from her home in Florida.
Although not a career path she had envisioned when she was an oncology and palliative care nurse, it’s a pivot that now seems predestined. In 2014, just three months after giving birth to her son, she was diagnosed with MS. By the time she was 26 years old she was on thirteen medications and felt that MS had gotten the better of her. Then, despite her best efforst, in 2018 Meagan’s nursing career abruptly ended. But a new journey began. On this episode Meagan shares with Joyce and Dave her story of transformation and healing, and how it feels to be a pioneer in the world of treating cannabis as a pharmaceutical.
