Ridiculous Optimism

There are definitely days that I worry about the future of our world, but I suppose I’m a stubborn optimist so I can’t let that feeling absorb me. Just four years ago, at a time of great uncertainty in my life, I started The Canna Mom Show without a clear vision of how it would add value to the emerging cannabis industry, but I didn’t let that stop me. And here we are launching Season 4 on October 6th, using the  power and beauty of the human voice to crush the stigma around cannabis and caregivers.

As a middle-aged introvert it’s surprising that I’ve found my voice and visibility through cannabis podcasting. Two things I never cared that much about. But you live long enough you know that the future is unknowable, but is most assuredly influenced by our actions and our agency.

The idea of my own agency and freedom was instilled in me as a very young person with my repetitive listening of the 1972 classic album, Free To Be You and Me, with the voices of Marlo Thomas, Alan Alda, Carol Channing and so many other filling my head with amazing stories that have shaped who I am. The power of storytelling can’t be overstated.

With the podcast I’m adding to the story of our future by sharing the stories of the powerful women building the industry and these stories should have the power to curb the destruction of our beautiful home. We live on a paradise in the dark universe and our actions will determine its future. I’m an earthling, and so are you, and for that reason alone we should all be invested in embracing cannabis and hemp. These plants, cannabis and hemp, are tools for a safer and healthier future for both our bodies and our planet.

The mission of The Canna Mom Show is to connect with as many people as we can to spread the stories of this plant so that we can enhance the impact the women have on this industry. The women leading this industry have found healing, laughter and connection through cannabis, and I would argue because they are healthy and happy they are better leaders. The freedom to choose our actions will help us create and industry with caregiving at its center.

The cannabis consuming mom can feel very alone, especially in states where cannabis continues to be illegal and those connected to the plant can still be punished severely. There is definitely a movement of young people who can influence the future of cannabis in this country, but we, the canna moms, will be the ones to get the job done. Canna moms are gutsy and on the front lines in different spaces and when we find alignment we are a force to be reckoned with. We belong in every space and we bring our people with us, so today I’m asking for your help. With Season 4 launching on October 6th can you  help us be heard so the world knows The Canna Mom Show is still sharing the stories of the women building this industry? Our actions together can help these important stories be heard.

There’s a resilience of nature that gives us hope and with hope we are spurred into action. We have this plant that nature has provided, and I see all around me women who are filled with persistence to heal others as they themselves have been healed. It is true that change is inevitable, in fact the only thing we can be assured of is change in this world, so we must engage our agency to create action. We each have a role to play, and it’s up to you to choose the kind of difference you can make. Hope is a strategy, embrace it.
